Papanasam Sivan was a prominent composer of Carnatic music and a singer. He was also the foremost film score composer in Kannada cinema as well as Tamil cinema in the 1930s and 40s.

The Trinity of Carnatic Music refers to an outstanding trio of composers from the 18th century, Tyagaraja, Muthuswami Dikshithar and Syama Sastri.

A pioneer in the Carnatic flute, Dr. Natesan Ramani (15/10/34-09/10/15) is widely regarded as the first maestro to bring the flute to wider Western attention. His disciples have gone on to represent his strand of playing throughout the globe. It is with immense pride that our founders have been under the tutelage of 2 of his prime disciples, Tiruchy L. Saravanan and V.K. Sivakumar.

Tiruvidaimarudur Ramaswamy Mahalingam (6 November 1926 – 31 May 1986) affectionately known as Mali, was a flautist who revolutionised the style of flute-playing in Carnatic music and is widely considered to be the father of modern Carnatic Flute playing. He is also credited with devising the Cross-Fingering Technique used today.

Gudalur Narayanaswamy Balasubramaniam (6 Jan 1910 – 1 May 1965), popularly known as GNB, was a vocalist in the Carnatic tradition. He innovated the art and eventually made Carnatic music appeal to the lay and the learned alike. He was also a Tamil film actor.
